Sound Bite: Dawna Yokoyama – Regional Administrator – L.A. County Dept. of Child and Family Services.
It really benefits a lot, all the children and families here in the San Fernando valley, because especially with all the budget cuts that are coming down with the state, more and more, it, you know, I think the youth enhancement activities are the things that get cut, those are the things that make a child’s life special, you know, having orthodontia, being able to go to theme parks in the summer, just the small things, buying uniforms, those things and those are the things that often times our children and foster families, we can’t afford to pay, because the government doesn’t have money to pay for all those things. So what we have been doing for several years, Levett, Jackie and all of us, we go to our community, we ask them to help with all these different events and it’s been really great, Katt has really done a great job, he has adopted some of our children, he really believes in the cause so he said, when you’re ready call me and I will do an event for you, so we are so appreciative that he’s come together brought his friends, it’s really a great event and the kids will really have a great time. |

No question about it because when we all grew up there were so many things to do and you go could after school and play, you could go and have a hot meal somewhere, you could go have organized football, basketball, whatever, but now because of the budget cuts those programs are gone, the summer jobs are gone, all the things that you needed to keep you off the streets are now gone and then they say well crime is up well if your giving all these kids idle time and you don’t have these programs for them to go after school and everything then you know trouble just comes there way, and so, now we have to change, Katt Williams, and people like ourselves, Snoop, and on and on, we have to do something about that if the city or whoever are not going to do anything about it. |

It was a good opportunity to be able help out the foster children of the San Fernando valley and I know that you try to do as much as you can but it seems like you can’t do enough to help so it was important since I live here in the San Fernando valley to be able to do something and all the celebrities came out and helped us out and the fans packed it out and if you can do that and help a hundred foster kids in one evening, it was a good evening, so those are important. OC: A lot of Laker feeling going out here tonight. Katt: Well it’s L.A. and the Lakers are in the playoffs, so everybody is a little happy, what’s important is not only that, but that we were able to help some kids, so that’s important. OC: And talk about some of the big friends you had here tonight. Katt: We had Snoop and Magic Johnson came out we were able to have Taz Dilinger and Omarian came out, it was wonderful we had so many celebrities, Wesley, Jonathan, the game is over, I’m sorry, I’m supposed to be there, thank you |
