In: 04.41.39 Out: 04.42.43 Sound Bite: Jim Cavizel He woke up out of bed and put a gun out of his hand and killed a couple of chickens you know. I originally wasn’t you know, I read the script and loved it, I didn’t know Denzel was attached to it originally and I said wow man this is a great hero role and they said yeah well that’s Denzel’s and I said well at least he’s in this movie and then I met with Tony Scott and he started talking about it and he said what do you think of Carol Oerstadt and I said yeah and then some people asked me why would you want to do that and I said because you need somebody who’s going to be a strong antitheist to this great hero legend and Denzel is one of the greatest leading actors there ever will be. And you, and to have something, I knew I had to really try to measure up against that and really pull that back and I thought you know this good vs. evil kind of attitude that you have to have other side that’s strong or you don’t really have you know. |

In: 04.42.53 Out: 04.43.53 Sound Bite: Jim Cavizel I don’t think I’ve met a more charming guy and a more private guy ever. Very mysterious man, I don’t think he tries that I just think that’s always who he’s been and he is one of those rare actors that completely goes there in his scenes. I know were both from towns of Mount Vernon, have that in common, different sides of the coast but both of us played Basketball. I knew right away though he was a fine athlete because of that competitive spirit he brings. He doesn’t care who he’s going up against, he has that mentality, he’s going to take you out, I love that. You don’t know if he’s going to go left, right, up or down and as an actor, especially one that wants to compete that’s a thrill. And so I think we were able to get something across the scene, I think that it was able to come across. |

In: 04.44.03 Out: 04.44.27 Sound Bite: Jim Cavizel I tried to play towards professional; there were things that I did that were on a professional level but there were things that I didn’t, A professional athlete does it faster, longer and strong and I had moments of great clarity that allowed me to taste what that might be like but those guys they do it day in and day out. |

In: 04.44.37 Out: 04.45.27 Sound Bite: Jim Cavizel You know a lot more name recognition, I often forget that I’m known, when people come up and say hello I go oh okay did we go to high school together, did we go to college together, oh that’s right I’m in the movies. And the I think the you know you try to, it’s a great opportunity to get out there and do stuff you want to do and put out great great films like this one with Jerry Bruckheimer and Tony Scott who’s a legend. And I kind of see it as more of, I’m very grateful to you know be a part of great movies with legends like that. |
