Beg for money, it’s weird, it’s strange, it’s demeaning, and when you get it, it’s so elating, but mostly I put up my own money, cause I don’t want to put up with that, it is kind of weird, what’s the weirdest thing I went through an actor, auditioning I mean it weird man, cause your asking them to hire me and give me money, that’s weird. |

What’s the strangest thing weirdest thing I had to do, well I would on this, the fact that it was 104 something, 106 in the Valley, when we were shooting and of course when your shooting, you can’t have the air conditioning going, and everybody started dehydrating, myself included, and I sent people out for popsicles, just you know, were dying here, were making it for a dollar and half, can you get us a popsicle. |

On an independent film, well I almost got into a fist fight with Michael Madsen at a premiere and that was pretty funny, because he thought I was hitting on his wife, when I really wasn’t. |

I actually have been pretty fortunate to not have like too much weird stuff, I mean, independent films more in general, you know, I think there’s a tendency towards them now especially with the economy and the stuff happening with the unions now, so it’s been, there’s been a lot of films that people want too create there own vision and stay true to what they have in mind and sell after it’s been made |

I can’t really tell you what the hardest movie was to make, because I never judge it that way, I think it’s important the experience you have during the making of the movie and most of them I’ve been very fortunate, partly because of the luck to be working with some great directors like Norman Jewison, Mike Nichols and Hal Ashby, yeah I’ve just been really lucky. |

It’s a tough question, you have to be able to be, to be in their service, to be what their dream is, and also for them to open enough to have some visual conversation back and fourth and all of the people I’ve mentioned and all of the directors I worked with seem to have that capability, I’m just plan lucky |

Yeah, no, I did a film more than several years ago with a Finnish director, ???, and we shot in the Amazon rain forest and that was a an independent film, it wasn’t necessarily low budget, it was independent and very sparse, and a challenging shoot to say the least cause we were in the jungle, you know, and I almost got called because, where were in a place in Brazil called Buena Vista which is in the northern part of Brazil called Jorama??? (and don’t laugh Paula I don’t know the name on this,) which is like a wild west town where the gribbos the gold diggers, would come in with there, what they’ve gotten to change for money and the cruzados, and then they would drink and have fun with the ladies so we were shooting in this particular town and I um, people were talking in a bar, were shooting practical locations, and me being who I am, they couldn’t the bar down, so I went in and said, “please, silencio por favor, for me”, thinking you know some Hollywood guy would effect a bunch of these wild graimpos??, to be quiet, and I remember this guy give me a very dead stare and I went back to the street where we were shooting and the next minute I know the director is grabbing my arm, everyone is running away the crew and what was said, was that the guy inside said, “You better get this gringo out of here, or we’ll shoot everybody in the place,” and every night there was at least a shooting in this place, so that was the most strangest independent experience. |

It’s beautiful you have people working together, like students, we are working on a daily basis, were working with nothing, so you have to rely on the directors a lot, and Michael Fifer who is a good friend of mine and like I said, we don’t have time, we don’t have money, we are making it cause we love what we do, it brings you down to the ground level a very humble experience. |

First of all to do independent films you really have to love what your doing to believe in it, so I would say the best memory I have, I was doing this movie, called “Kiss Me Again” in New York and I was playing this tattoo, lesbian, angry, photographer, woman, and I had this sex scene, we are in a hallway and I’m having sex with this man, so on our lunch break I had to call my manager and make sure that everything was OK with contracts and that I knew that I would be taken care of, and I was walking down the street with this crazy outfit and these little girls recognized me from “Sabrina The Teenage Witch” the series I was doing at the time and they start hoarding me and attacking me, and I’m on the phone talking about sex with my manager, and I’ve got red pieces in my hair and all this insanity and I was a like a very crazy thing, very renegade making independent movies, it is. |

Well in real independent film, in real independent film you find real, not you know, 18 million dollar, 30 million dollar independent film, real independent 300 to 500 dollar, 50 thousand dollar, you find yourself doing everything, decorating the set, buying the pizza, you know, it’s that, a group effort, you know especially for a guy like me, who’s been served and you taken care, it sort of like school, it’s like film school, which I think it might be easier than independent film cause you have money on the line and a responsibility. |
