Sound Bite – Harry Connick Jr. – Working with Renee?
It’s exactly what she is. I mean you you you would pray that somebody would be like that you know there’s a kind a mysterious quality about her like when you see her on the red carpet or when you see her in interviews, there’s something going on, some wheels are defiantly turning inside her head, but you can’t quite figure it out but she looks really cool and fun and charming and all of that, but hyper-intelligent you know and she’s exactly that she’s incredibly smart incredibly giving and um a pleasure to talk to. |

Sound Bite – Harry Connick Jr. – On location for the movie
Yeah we were in Winnipeg that whole time. (talking) It was rough. (Talking) Yeah I’ve been in very cold weather um nothing like this, I mean at one point it got down to just about 50 below um and when you are shooting at night for 12 hours and the weather is that cold it’s just a whole different kind of experience. |

Sound Bite – Harry Connick Jr. - what separates the people in this town to normal life
Well I think it’s a little bit of everything I think all these pieces make up what those people are and you could probably stick your finger on a thousand places all over the United States and have a different set of criteria that makes people what they are, um in Minnesota it seemed to be they have a strong accent they have a lot of lakes they have freezing weather, it was a very tiny small tight knit community I mean all of these things make those people unique. Um and that’s what the movie’s sort of founded upon. |

Sound Bite – Harry Connick Jr. – do you spend a lot of time in Louisiana?
Yeah I got back I’d say five or six times a year probably you know to see my dad and you know try to keep up with the community and I got a couple of little projects I got going on down there so. |

Sound Bite – Harry Connick Jr. – do you create on your down time?
Well when I do my records I’m the guy who’s doing all the arrangements and the orchestrations and stuff so that just takes a lot of time um so the last album I did was a Christmas album so you know all the oboe parts and all the violin parts and all that stuff I’m the guy who does that and the conducting so yeah I’ve very much involved in every aspect. (talking) Oh it’s deceiving yeah it’s a it’s about the same like I’ll put about one record every year and a half probably do a movie in the same amount of time. Like I was telling somebody earlier I never counted how many records I’ve done or movie but it’s about 20 of each. (talking) Well that’s one thing I like about doing movies is that you’re level of commitment is vastly different then doing a CD. I mean if all I did was walk in and Harry here’s the song sing it we’ve done all the work for you that would be a breeze you know but it’s not, it wouldn’t be a breeze but it’s it’d be a lot less grueling um the movies is a whole, I have none of those responsibilities uh I just go in and show up as an actor so it’s quite liberating in a sense. |
