01:02:57 178 thumbnail
Sound Bite: Daryl Gates, The Chief
Daryl: Well I don’t know this is an exciting movie, right from the beginning to the end, action type movie again it isn’t exactly the way police work is done, if you followed the rules that we do in Law Enforcement, you would never enjoy the movie, it wouldn’t be very exciting. This is an exciting movie right from the beginning to the end. It really is.

01:07:15 435 thumbnail
Sound Bite: Lucas Foster (Producer)
Lucas: This is edgy material too and unusual for SearchLite, they took a big risk with making this movie which we really appreciate because we made a, made a movie that’s about L.A. and about what’s really going on here, so its pretty cool of them to do that especially these days.
01:07:32 452 thumbnail
Sound Bite: Lucas Foster (Producer)
Lucas: I just had Jumper, a moment ago, was out it’s out doing pretty well and I’m making a movie with Gerard Butler on summer and a movie with Djimon Hounsou in the fall, so I don’t know I have kinda of a full dance card right now.
01:07:58 478 thumbnail
Sound Bite: Lucas Foster (Producer)
Lucas: I’m fortunate my next movie is with a company who signed an interim agreement, but it’s a terrible thing for the business to have you know with this strife, and uh, it’s a complex issue I’m not sure who’s right or who’s wrong, or if there isn’t even a right or a wrong, but um, it would be awful, demoralizing for regular people, um, were not effected, people like as are not effected like regular people, regular working people, crew members are effected, people lose their homes, and its an awful thing, so I hope there isn’t an Actor’s strike because it would be a significant blow to the business and I’m not sure the business will ever fully recover. That’s my view.
01:09:01 541 thumbnail
Sound Bite: Lucas Foster (Producer)
Lucas: Well you know, our main character struggles with doing what’s right and what’s wrong and ultimately makes a decision to do what’s right at a great personal cost and uh, I think that’s an important thing to say to people, you know there is a lot of violence going on in the city of Los Angeles and other cities, you know, we don’t shy away from it, the movie is not polite about it, I mean we show it and we make a decision about how you should handle that. We hope audiences think that we rendered it in a real way, you know, it’s a serious topic, you know, we are not you know trying to make light of it. We handle it, we are straight up the middle, you know what I mean.
01:11:46 707 thumbnail
B-Roll: The Red Carpet, David Ayer talking with reporters. People scream. Lights pan to down to carpet.
01:12:49 770 thumbnail
Sound Bite: David Ayer (Director)
David: Well, you know it’s sort of like the pony express, you got a script and you got to get the mail to Kansas and you throw a lot of people at it and it takes a long time and a lot of effort. Um, but you know, the script was to a point were Keanu said he I would play this character and he would see our synops?? and he’s like can you do this, which is crazy awesome. You know he put his faith in me, put his trust in me to direct him, and of sort of the rest will be history.
01:13:30 810 thumbnail
Sound Bite: David Ayer (Director)
David: This is a totally different animal; first of all it had a real budget, it was a studio film, full resource, I had helicopters, we were able to crash stuff. You know, I know L.A. and I know the streets, I know the policing, so as a first time studio movie, I was able to sort of not have to worry so much about that and so I could really focus on performance, really focus on the character, really focus on my actors, so for me it just made sense as a choice, you know, I love this movie, I understand it, now what am I going to do next? Like Science fiction, I don’t know something different.
01:15:48 948 thumbnail
