Well at the time that I started with it there were only two books out and so the fan base was passionate but it wasn’t as big as it is now and I was excited by that because I thought man this means people are reading, they are connecting with material and they’re being creative, its like a springboard for there own creativity so I liked that.

Well that’s what you know before I went to the first interview for the job I read the book and I started getting excited, I got drawn into it, I let myself go right there and feel what Bella’s feeling and feel this like obsession with this like character so I thought oh this would be a neat movie to make where you really create that world, this dream like world in a way of obsession and love.

Well I think you know in some ways lately like love stories have been, seems like they have been romantic comedies and things and not quite so serious in a way and I think this one has that serious element and a deep passionate love, but it also has a dangerous element too because the person you love if you get to close to him, he could kill you and your attachment to this person can cause trouble in the outside world, other vampires in they want to kill you.

Not at all I mean there are no coffins or garlic or steaks or fangs, uhm I think what’s kind of incredible about that is that Stephanie Myer who wrote all the books, she did not like go look at every vampire thing and studied every vampire myth and movie, she just had a dream on her own, from her own subconscious and this is what came out and this is how the vampires were. They could go out in the sun, they shimmered in the sun instead of burned, they didn’t have fangs they tried to live among humans and blend in so that was kind of a cool interesting concept from the beginning.

Well if you think about uh two 17 year old actors that have that much depth and emotion they’re really aren’t that many famous 17 yr old actors probably the other two that are believable in High School are already in the other High School movie so you know we had to have our movie and it be unique you know not picking people from another franchise so the idea of finding people that we don’t know but could be in High School and have that intense connection that’s what we were looking for.

Almost all of our scenes are outside and we cannot have sun on the vampires, we couldn’t have like being pelted with snow or hail or rain cause everybody you know, they’d just droop. So we really only could have one condition, clouds. That just does not happen there, it did not happen this winter so we were doing like cloud dances we were like burning incense, like anything we could do to try and get the right weather condition.
