Sound Bite: Jackie Earle Haley & Jeffrey Dean Morgan – on movie being special
Jeffrey – Oh for sure I think we uh you know you knew right away as soon as you read the graphic novel which you know I hadn’t read until I became aware of this project and and I’m, the first time I read it I knew, I knew what I was ready was completely different. Uh and I had to read it two more times to kind of get a grasp of what I was really looking at because there are so many layers to it. So you know you know right away that what you’re going you’re stepping into something really special that’s uh also full of landmines because you know immediately there’s a lot of responsibility that you’re taking with going into a project like this you know. (talks) Well everybody but really the fans. You know Zach Zach is the biggest fan of this you’ll ever see in your life and and uh uh you know we all became such big fans and real fast you figure out that that the fans for this particular graphic novel are a really smart group and uh they’re also insane and you don’t want to screw it up. I mean the scrutiny that this has been under for for twenty years in getting to the point that we are today has been intense and and it doubled when we started production of this film and we were aware of it. Uhm and you know it is a lot of responsibility to take, you don’t want to screw it up for the people that love this thing so much. |

Sound Bite: Jackie Earle Haley & Jeffrey Dean Morgan – on stunts
Jackie – yeah we got kicked around quite a bit, some more than others. Like I had an assume stuntman and of course I’m covered right but I still got in there and you know did the fight scenes I would do a few passes as well and then Matty would get in there and do a few passes. You know Matty just rocks, he’s an awesome stunt guy and uh you know I have some martial arts background and stuff so luckily I didn’t have to go to fight training like these guys did, I could just go right in to the choreography but I did do a lot of like weight training and that kind of stuff so. (talks) yeah yeah a little bit I mean there was just so much you know. |

Sound Bite: Jackie Earle Haley & Jeffrey Dean Morgan – on staying true & being rated R
Jeffrey – No No uh Jackie – isn’t it great. Jeffrey – You know the point of it and Zack fought for the from the beginning was not only to stay uh you know stay true to the novel, in doing that you know its going to be rated R, its going to be vicious, the violence, the violence in it is violent, its not a watered down version of what the book is, its brining that comic book to life and its brutal at times (talks) that’s right and imagine the fans of this, of Watchmen would be if we had watered it down. Uhm you know look this uh uhuh a movie for adults, there’s a reason there’s got an R rating on it, this is not a little kids superhero movie, this is an adult movie and I have a hard time putting a superhero even in front of it because its so much more than just that. |

Sound Bite: Jackie Earle Haley & Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Jeffrey – There’s nothing like this in anywhere, I don’t think. Jackie – But it sure did change the way uh people look at and read comic books back in 86 so I’m kind of hoping that happens now in 2009, that the comic film genre finally catches up. |
