People say, oh, gee, your dress looks great, but too bad about your shoes.
But I do that. Because I always like something to be completely wrong. Sort of as a just a, I guess it makes me feel more comfortable. Once in a while. I don't know, just, you know, some things that I've done sort of accidentally, but none of this has reason you know, some thing's no one that I saw or that I like to parody or, you know, sort of
Well, it's part of me. And I noticed that that Judy brought out something in me that I didn't know about. And I was more myself, or friendlier, because sometimes I'm contained when I'm off costume and other people enjoy it but sometimes they were put off, like i did a Russian or Duchess which is all black sequins. And it started by being someone called Helen Paul who is very chic. I got her together to go to the Charles Pierce show and I got to see some do that in return this but I never did find out except this one time then I got this perfectly fabulous black sequined dress, which you wouldn't believe this store. It's really true that I glued about 5000 Black sequins on this foraline dress which was about a 1930 dress and I wore it once before so the night before I did this thing at the Pierce show. . I cleaned it with Q tips and Windex every sequin, It was absolutely fabulous. And then I just had this that is kept getting worse and worse and worse. So finally love Russian history anyway. That became the Grand Duchess incredible sort of huge tiara that i made.

Speaker 2
Do you feel the bizarre costumes on the dancers are sexually orientated towards the viewers? Do you think it stimulates them in any bit, any way?

Speaker 1 Cross Dresser
I don't know. I think that in a way everybody is hungry? I don't know. I don't, I don't think it really means very much sexually.

Speaker 2
Why do you think there's more freedom for one to express himself in New York nightlife than anywhere else in the world?
01:21:39 362.02 thumbnail
Speaker 1 Christian
Well, I think because New Yorkers being used to, and you have to , some people, say New Yorkers are unfriendly, well they're not friendly at all. It's just, we expend a lot more energy than most peopleI think. And that the energy that we want to keep going, we consider precious, and we want to use on people like have an exchange with you. It has to be saved. So we're used to filtering all these things out. And New Yorkers don't think very much of it at all. But they don't think much of unusual things. I used to walk into the wrong the body. I got off the subway last night at 42nd street, there was a man lying on the platform on the ramp from the BMT everyone walked around him. And I decided, as I usually do, I thought I was going to do something about it. And I looked for a policeman, there was none in the whole 42nd Street complex of the subway. But people are these people weren't irresponsible really. They were just using their New Yorkism their way of being in the city. Will we save it for the people we know that we're gonna be worth much more.

Speaker 3 Interviewer (female)
Christian is that your natural voice?

Speaker 1 Cross Dresser Christian
Yes of course. That's why I had trouble in school. Actually, because I love to,

some people do it, But i think they do it too much. selling just because it's important to me somehow. And I don't think a lot of people realize that. And that's what this is, it's a complete release. I thought was the most extreme thing I ever did because she was, she ran around the place and no one liked her costume. Yeah, but it was a part of me that she she was frightened you know. And she ran and she just saw about five minutes and looked at everyone but she wasn't aggressive about it.

Speaker 2 Interviewer
Do you have any unfulfilled fantasies

Speaker 1 Christian
Oh I'm sure has a whole raft of ? I don'know . Especially tiaras and I mean really dazzling things that we're just getting a like a tableau, I guess. You know, sort of moved in. I did things and I suppose I

Speaker 2
You worked for a designer?

Speaker 1 Christian (cross dresser)
Freelance.

Speaker 2 Interviewer
What started that direction?

Speaker 1 Christian
Well, I don't know. that sort of changed actually I was brought up as a housing designer which was very hard edge German design. Very clean and without any frills

01:25:14 Film goes dark

Speaker 2
Do you think your costumes have any effect on

Speaker 1 Christian
Sometimes So I think we spend half of our time unfortunately a lot of energy streaming things out. And it's sort of interesting because it's it's fun to have things that are fun admittedly, some of them are a little irritating to people occasionally too much because
