Well I think that you know there are, there’s been this amount of awards that I don’t know keep snowballing every year more and more and more which is fabulous O think but I think something about the Golden Globes is rimanicent of old Hollywood flair that carries with the Oscars and I I, it has an elegance about it I think.

Well I think Babel was a big surprise winning the dramatic prize and uh it was very moving saying emotion needs no translation and I think Dreamgirls was expected to do as well as it did with Eddie Murphy and Jennifer Hudson so that was not a surprise. Uh we all expected Warren to run on a bit and he did ahahha the show ran very long. But it was fun, it was my first time inside (talks) That was, I expected that because I thought they were gonna want to hear what he had to say and he did not disappoint, ahaha with his graphic description of his co-star

First of all you see people hanging put like Clint and Spielberg at the table there having dinner, there chewing, there having glasses of something to drink you know it has a light and friendly feeling and people run around and smooze between taping sessions and its very very social.

I’m going to tell something when (talks) whenever you look at Dreamgirls, The reason that Dreamgirls works is because the people who are doing the music are known for music Beyonce you know as a songstress, Jennifer Hudson who was snug at the American Idol but she she’s getting em now and Eddie Murphy who had a, don’t forget Eddie Murphie (sings) My girl wants to party all the time, all the time, so don’t forget the musical background of Eddie Murphy. So that’s why the musical works, the movie works and its just absolutely incredible.

Eddie Murphy that’s my legend, that’s my . I’ve always looked at Eddie when I was a kid like wow if I ever get the chance to be even close to that guy to be in a movie with him and I hope he enjoys himself.

There’s no pressure when you know you have no chance in hell of winning, It’s always a good feeling and a good chance to see old friends and people you’ve worked with over the years and uhm and it’s a good night for film, it’s a good night for you know uhm for films that people haven’t seen they have a chance to say hey maybe I ought to go down to the corner and watch that, that’s why we all make movies.

How is it different, uh I’m not sure, well you know like the SAG Awards you know its all voted by our peers and and to an extent the Oscars are as well, its just a a different group of people voting for it.

00:23:19 1364 thumbnail
Sound Bite: David Krumholtz
No this like old stuff to me you know I’m used to it, of course it’s over whelming its pretty cool I met Steven Spielberg tonight so its pretty cool.
00:23:35 1380 thumbnail
Sound Bite: David Krumholtz
Uh it much more relaxed, you know I’ve been to a bunch of the Academy Awards parties and it’s a lot stiffer, its just a lot of fun and sweet and you run into people you’ve worked with a thousand times and its just great to see them if you haven’t seen them in years. I met a bunch of people tonight that I hadn’t met before so it was really cool.
00:23:53 1398 thumbnail
Sound Bite: David Krumholtz
Uhm I look forward to the expressions on certain actors faces when they win, like Forest Whitaker tonight that kind of got me choked up, I thought it, I thought he was really gracious and really overwhelmed and you know its pretty cool to be standing next to Jack Nicholson accepting an award, it’s a pretty cool thing.

I just love the way they pay attention to film for a couple of months, everyone is trying to see as much film as they can and there talking about it and you go to restaurants and you’re hearing people discuss films and performances and it keeps the film industry alive, and exciting and popping, it’s just really, It involves everyone, everyone has there own opinion about who should win, what films were ignored, what film should should win everything. I just love the excitement, I love energy around it.

Uhm you know there weren’t a lot of surprises in a lot of the favorites this season of course Helen Mirren and Forest Whitaker uh won best dramatic actor and actress. I think the only real surprise in the room was that Babel ultimately won and to come into the evening with seven nominations so should have been the front runner but it didn’t win any awards during the evening and finally uh its last chance at bat it wont thee award for best dramatic picture. Uh it was obviously a good night for Dreamgirls uh they got the two supporting actor nominations that they were expecting uh for Eddie Murphy and Jennifer Hudson uh and then they were insured the final victory when they got best musical, uh so it was probably a best night for them.
00:29:51 1756 thumbnail
Sound Bite : Gregg Kilday
Well I mean certainly, I mean Jennifer Hudson gave a very sweet acceptance speech uh that certainly helps her uh well she has to already be considered the front runner in her category. Uh you know Helen Mirren was very gracious at the fact that she walked away with a win in film and a win in television for playing Elizabeth the First on HBO I think really means she’s going to be hard for the Academy to ignore, uhm she is kind of a dominate player this season.
00:30:46 1811 thumbnail
Sound Bite : Gregg Kilday
Here at the Globes since they divide up comedy and dramas Meryl Streep won in her category as best comedic actress uh for The Devil Wears Prada, I think it ensures she’ll get the nomination at the Academy Awards that folks are expecting for her but then she will be up against Helen Mirren and I think it is Helen Mirrens year.
00:31:14 1839 thumbnail
Sound Bite : Gregg Kilday
I think Sacha Barren Cohen was being sort of clever uhm he won the award for best comedy actor for Borat, he didn’t come up on stage as Borat, I think there was some expectation of how he would come across when he wasn’t in character uhm but as himself he proved to be very funny, uh gave a speech that started out sounding out as if it was going to be a serious critique of America and instead turned into sort of a body recounting of thee naked wresting match that he has in the movie. So I think he endeared himself uhm and although I think at the Academy because comedians are often penalized he still has to be considered a long shot. I don’t think it will be a surprise now he might be able to squeeze a best actor nomination uh and get in apoun the more serious dramatic actors competing in that category at the Academy.
00:32:24 1909 thumbnail
Sound Bite : Gregg Kilday
No I mean I think perhaps it’s a minor set back for Little Miss Sunshine uh but at the same time as you talk to Academy members and folks in the industry there’s a lot of good will surrounding the movie uh it did pick up some awards earlier this weekend at the Broadcast Film Critics Awards. So I think it’s still gonna get its far share of nominations when the Academy Awards are announced.

Tonight there was a vibe, it was my third time there was a vibe and everybody as talking on the town, there was tension and also, not tension but very positive I don’t know what to say, it was sizzling, the evening was amazing.

You know its just being part of the tope crowd you know all the composers were there, the directors, the actors are top notch people and just being there is blessing you know. We know this thing called the Oscars coming up but you know we’ll see, we’ll see.
