Sound Bite: Steve Carell – does he remember the original
I, you know what, I remember it growing up and I was too young to understand all of the political humor in it that, the satire, but I knew it was funny, I enjoyed it, um and when this all came about it was sort of dreamlike to think that I would have a chance that I would be a part of it, it was a big deal. |

Sound Bite: Steve Carell – seems like he’s been on board with this awhile
Awhile, it was before 40 Year Old Virgin, it was after I did Anchorman, um and I think, I’ve been telling people that I was called into Warner Brothers to what I thought was an audition for the role. So I went with my headshot and my resume and I thought I, you know, I’ll take a look at the script and I’ll do my best for a casting director and they were offering it to me. They you know I got there and they said that they wanted me to play the part if I was interested, so it was, that was a very very big day for me. |

Sound Bite: Steve Carell – what attracted him to the movie
Um, I think it’s what I think attracted everybody I think. I think what attracted Pete Segal the director and all the other act, we love the source material, we loved the original series. We thought that it was an excellent template for on which to build a movie, the relationships between Max and 99 and Max and the chief and incorporating some new characters and all the gadgets that um could be brought form the original as well. Um I think that’s what drew everybody, at least men. |

Sound Bite: Steve Carell – on satire
Yeah, I mean I think anything like that is fairgame, and it’s fun, and I mean and that’s and not too put too fine a point on it but that’s one of the great things about living here in America that we can do that, we can get away with it, we can poke fun at our leaders, we can and uh and have fun. |
